      01.Expressing Likes/Dislikes

Do you like swiming?"

      你難道只能回答"I like/love swimming"嗎?

      This appeals to me because……

This appeals to me because……”

“swimming appeals to me because it's such a great way to relieve stress .”

To get a lot of pleasure out of something/doing something

      A. “I like taking my swimming lessons.”,

B.“ I get a lot of pleasure out of taking my swimming lessons.”

To be keen to do something/

To be keen on doing something

可以用“ I am keen to do something”來表達

或者“I am keen on doing something"

      比如

“I was keen on going to the party but two centimeters of snow fell in London and trains didn't run."

I am not keen on doing something."即可

      use"keen" as an adjective

" I'm a keen supporter of Chelsea of Arsenal Football Club."

Now we all know how keen you are.

      To be fond of (doing)something

      To be fond of (doing)something

"Unlike most people I'm not fond of chocolate at all."

" I'm really fond of my uncle."

" I'm not fond of my neighbor at all."

      To grow fond of

      可以用" to grow fond of"來表達

      比如

" I've grown fond of the flattered rent and now I don't want to leave."

      02.Asking for clarification

Sorry, I didn't quite catch that

      Could you say that again?

Could you explain what you mean by……?

“could you explain what you mean by bricks and mortar business?”

      03.Providing clarification

      To put it another way

What I'm trying to say is

      What I mean is

“What I'm trying to say is that maybe you can't approach this as a purely intellectual exercise.”

04.If you are not sure what to say

      It's quite a difficult question

      That's a good question

I've never thought about it before but I guess……

      05.Agreeing with something

      I couldn't agree more

      I totally agree

      Absolutely/Definitely

"absolutely young people spend way too much time on social media."

      I tend to agree(with) that

It depends/I think it really depends

" Well, the answer depends on how you look at the problem."

      06.Disagreeing with something

That’s one way of looking at it. However……

      That's not always true

“some people say that getting education is the best way to prepare for the future, however that's not always true.

In some situations hands-on experience is much more valuable.”

      07.Expressing your opinion

      As far as I'm concerned

      As I see it

      As far as I know

“Global warming is a recent problem as far as I know.”

      I suppose

      I would imagine

"I'm not sure if it's true but I would imagine so many scientists can't be wrong."

      I’m convinced that

“Unlike President Trump, I'm convinced that global warming is a real issue.”

      There is no other way

"This is an excellent report. There's no other way to put it."

I've never really thought about it

“Oh, what is your favorite wild animal?”

“Well, I've never really thought about it but I'm quite fond of big cats. For example, Tigers and leopards.”

      To sum up/To wrap up

用” to sum up” 或者” to wrap up”即可

      比如

" To wrap up I'm really fond of Miami because of its diversity and tropical climate."
